How to Customize Playback Speed When Viewing Videos on Almost Any Website

Save Time and Money Tip #3

Today I have a quick tip that has saved me countless hours when watching virtually any video inside of my favorite browser, which is Google Chrome (this applies to the Desktop version of the browser and works on both Mac OS and Windows OS). I was using a different extension, but after testing Video Speed Controller, I’ve found it to be much better.

I believe that this can be extremely useful if you are watching reviews/tutorials/documentaries on YouTube (which has some speed controls, but nothing like what you can do with this Extension), or videos on sites like Facebook that have no speed controls.

It’s also great if you are attending classes online, or if you are just reviewing content that you have already created and would like to review.

Imagine being able to quickly adjust the speed and move back and forth in any video (and customize how many seconds you move back and forth) with just a few keystrokes. And there’s no cost for the extension, which is a plus (I could not find a way to easily send donations to the developer, but there may be a way). The engine that they use to speed up the content is particularly good; it sounds excellent even at 2x speed and does not degrade much in quality like I’ve experienced with other tools that do similar things).

To find the page to install the extension (you need to be running Google Chrome to use it), visit THIS PAGE. But before you do, I have to share a link to THIS ARTICLE about Chrome Extensions because there are some that have security concerns. This one did not ask for any permissions when I installed it (there are more than 2 million users and nearly 3000 overwhelmingly positive reviews for the Extension, so I’m confident it is safe), but I am not an expert in Cyber Security and want to just mention that it’s impossible for me to do a full background check on this or any other Extensions. So as they say, even though I am using it and it is probably safe, please proceed at your own risk.

For an excellent overview of the application, with specific tips for using it, I highly recommend watching these videos (especially the first one):
