Three views of my Photos App on iOS 14 and 15 as I “Pinch to Zoom” (from left to right) — Photos © Andrew Darlow (some photos/videos on the left blurred for privacy reasons)

I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN I NOTICED THIS FEATURE! For about the last year (I believe it started in iOS 14), you have been able to make the individual thumbnails in any Photo Album on an iPhone (the app is labeled “Photos”) MUCH LARGER by pinching the screen with your thumb and pointer finger and expanding them outward.

The thumbnails used to be much smaller when scrolling through a group of photographs and/or videos, and they were not resizable while scrolling (you would go from tiny thumbnails to filling the horizontal or vertical space of your phone with a photo or video, depending upon how you were holding the phone). This is a big improvement, and you may be surprised to see this feature if you have an iPhone. I didn’t try it on an iPad with a recent iPad OS, but it’s probably there too.

I included a composite of three screen shots above to show how “zoomed in” you can make your images (note how the vertical and horizontal images look next to each other in the rightmost image when zoomed in). Being able to make the images larger than before allows you to select one or more photos/videos more easily (just press the Select button in the top right).
